Truly a phenomenal read … I have been thinking about it all month. It reminded me a lot of Pierre Bourdieu’s sociological craft, notably when he talks about symbolic domination that has been naturalised to the point that it is to us like water to a fish. Language is the architecture of our society. It dominates. It can set you free. It is the lock and the key. The bird and the cage. It is nothing yet everything. It’s love and fire. I honestly do believe there is liberation to be found somewhere. It might just be this essay ! Thank u for sharing ❤️

thank you so much my darling! so funny, i was going to bring up bordieu’s linguistic capital in this too - awesome that the ideas can translate regardless

This is one of my my favorite things I’ve read recently <3 I’m a former ballet dancer turned writer - the insurmountable challenge of transcription is what’s kept me hooked to these two practices! I haven’t seen someone spell it out in this way, felt so seen by this. Thank you!

I’m floored by this! Eloquence to escape perpetual alienation…

this really resonated SO much with me and I'm not entirely sure why (although I DO have somewhat of a theory that I just need to contemplate over immediately in depth with either an astrological guru-professional of sorts, or resorting to my own research perhaps) but nonetheless, love your words as always ! X ❤️

soo beautiful as per usual !! thank you ! it was so important for me, as per usual.

i LOVE rosalia, and i know my friends and i were especially excited for lux given the marketing and hints at her pursuit of god consciousness. what was that atlantic article on her- the coolest girl on earth seeks god. (i cant read it bc im not paying soo if anyone has a pdf...). while it broaches important themes and is a necessary injection of God contemplation in the mainstream discourse, my friends and i found it underwhelming !! devastating.

i also think my own relationship to how you ended this piece is funny. i feel like i 70% understand what maeve was getting at. at the same time, i think in order for the speaker line to fully hit, for it to signify everything you were struggling to, i needed to be there and know maeve!

thought it would be the perfect way to end for that exact reason! a golden example of eloquence to me that underwhelms anybody who lacks context, cadence, specificity - fickle eloquence is in the eye of the beholder <3
